THE HAGUE: The United Nations International Court of Justice has ruled in favour of Qatar in a dispute with the United Arab Emirates that started when the UAE and other neighbours sought to isolate Qatar for its alleged links to terrorism and meddling in the region.

Over the past year, the UAE and Bahrain, Egypt and Saudi Arabia have instituted a series of measures that have isolated Qatar.

But the UN’s highest court said in the discrimination lawsuit Monday that families with Qatari members that had been separated by last year’s UAE measures must be allowed to be reunited.

It added that Qatari students hit by the measures should be allowed to complete their education in the UAE or get records so they continue to study elsewhere.
