ISLAMABAD: In two separate incidents, shots were fired at Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) campaign events within a timeframe of 18 hours.
In the first incident, PTI’s candidate for NA-54 Asad Umar was attending a corner meeting in light of the upcoming general elections in the capital’s Adnan Market with an estimated 250 in attendance when Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) workers allegedly disrupted the meeting and shots were heard.
Police attempted to intervene and intercept the nine PML-N vehicles but five managed to flee.
A case was registered pertaining to the incident against unidentified persons under the Pakistan Penal Code (PPC) Sections 337, 188, 148 and 149.
In another incident, a PTI rally being led by Zulfikar Bukhari was allegedly fired upon by three unidentified persons.
No casualty was reported in either incident.
