ISLAMABAD: Senators from the Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) on Saturday criticised the Punjab caretaker chief minister Hasan Askari Rizvi in the upper house for allegedly making a statement in favour of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), dnd reported on Saturday.
PML-N leader Senator Pervaiz Rasheed inquired how the caretaker chief minister gained the authority to make statements regarding which party will gain more or fewer seats in the upcoming general elections.
“If this is right, the Senate should ask him to resign,” he said.
The PML-N leader said that terrorists were being transformed into parliamentarians and vice-versa.
He added that the party’s candidate in NA-54 (Islamabad-III), Anjum Aqeel Khan was given a notice by National Accountability Bureau (NAB) four days before the elections and that Chief Election Commission (CEC) Sardar Muhammad Raza Khan in addition to NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal should be questioned over the matter.
Senator Sadia Abbasi said that the CEC should take notice of the reported statement made by the caretaker chief minister which was published in an Indian newspaper. Askari is reported to have said the PTI will win more seats than PML-N in the elections.
Senate Chairman Sadiq Sanjrani ordered to provide the news report to the Secretariat in response to demands for sending a newspaper copy to the ECP.
