FAISALABAD: District Monitoring Officer (DMO) and Deputy Commissioner Syed Ahmad Fawad issued a notice to former chief minister (CM) Shehbaz Sharif as well as, 30 other Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates, office-bearers and activists over the violation of Election commission of Pakistan’s (ECP) code of conduct for Election 2018.
According to a spokesperson, the PML-N office-bearers had filed an application seeking permission for a public meeting headed by PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif at Al-Fateh Sports Complex near Saleemi Chowk Faisalabad which was granted by the Syed Fawad.
However, the arrangements were made at Saleemi Chowk main Sitiana Road by blocking the road.
The DMO/DC had also issued a warning to the meeting organisers advising them to refrain from holding gatherings at un-permitted places however, they failed to comply with the orders and caused a law and order situation by blocking traffic and creating an inconvenience for the public at large.
Therefore, the 31 accused violators were issued a notice under Section 234 of the Election Act 2017 on charge of holding a public rally at unspecified place and timings, holding car rallies, not abiding by the directions of police/LEA on duty with regard to the right of road, non-submission of notice three days in advance for changing public meeting and announcement of development schemes in the meeting.
Among those issued notices include Shehbaz Sharif, candidate from NA-102 Talal Badar Chaudhry, candidate from NA-103 Ali Gohar Baloch, candidate from NA-104 Chaudhry Muhammad Shahbaz Babar, candidate from NA-105 Mian Muhammad Farooq, candidate from NA-106 & PP-113 Rana Sanaullah, candidate from NA-107 Hajji Muhammad Akram Ansari, candidate from NA-108 Abid Sher Ali, candidate from NA-109 Mian Abdul Mannan, candidate from NA-110 Muhammad Afzal Khan, candidate from PP-97 Azad Ali Tabassum, candidate from PP-98 Shoaib Idrees, candidate from PP-99 Akbar Ali, candidate from PP-100 Iffat Miraj, candidate from PP-101 Rai Haidar Ali Khan, candidate from PP-102 Sikandar Hayat, candidate from PP-103 Jaffar Ali Hocha, candidate from PP-104 Safdar Shakir, candidate from PP-105 Rao Kashif Raheem Khan, candidate from PP-106 Khalid Pervez Gill, candidate from PP-107 Shafique Gujjar, candidate from PP-108 Mian Ajmal Asif, candidate from PP-109 Zafar Iqbal Nagra, candidate from PP-110 Malik Muhammad Nawaz, candidate from PP-111 Haji Khalid Saeed, candidate from PP-112 Muhammad Tahir Parveez, candidate from PP-114 Sheikh Ijaz Ahmad, candidate from PP-115 Rana Ali Abbas, candidate from PP-116 Faqeer Hussain Dogar, candidate from PP-117 Mehr Hamid Rasheed and PML-N District General Secretary Shahid Mehmood Baig.
The accused have been directed to submit written replies by July 23. Otherwise, legal action would be taken against them under Election Act 2017.
