Case registered against firing on Asad Umar’s poll meeting

ISLAMABAD:  Islamabad police on Saturday registered a case against unidentified suspects who opened aerial firing in corner meeting of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umer on Friday night.

The First Information Report (FIR) was filed against unknown suspects in the presence of police in Ramna police station.

The FIR maintained that PTI’s corner meeting was underway in sector G-10 on Friday when few vehicles of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) passed by them.

The personnel deployed on duty stopped the PML-N rally in view of a possible emergency situation. At the same time, a fire was heard from an unknown direction following which four simultaneous shots were fired.

None has been nominated in the FIR and no arrest has yet been made.
