SARGODHA: Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday mocked his main political rival, saying that all the U-turn sign boards should carry the picture of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, pointing out the latter’s change of tactics during 2018 polls.
Addressing a rally in Sargodha, the PML-N president said, “I don’t want to see Punjab being ruined like Peshawar”.
The high court has given the orders to run a probe into the Peshawar metro project, he stressed referring to the delay in the completion of Rapid Bus Transit. He said that the contract for the Peshawar metro project was given to a black-listed company, which led to its ruin.
Shehbaz said that no charge of corruption was proven against his brother and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, however, he was still put behind bars.
He said that those who have been looting the country are now a part of the PTI. “Will rid the country of Imran Khan on July 25,” said the PML-N president.
Shehbaz vowed to bring Nawaz and Maryam out of jail through the power of the vote.
SHEHBAZ CLAIMS EARLY VICTORY:
The PML-N president claimed that his party would emerge victorious in the centre, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) in 2018 general election.
He made the remarks during his interview with senior anchorperson Hamid Mir. “Mark my words, God willing we will form the government on [July] 25 in the centre, Punjab, and KP,” he said. “The voter will set out and cast vote.”
“Whatever measures were taken for rigging, those have been taken…. but the people will reject this pre-poll rigging,” he said.
The former Punjab chief minister said that masses would not allow the polls to be rigged.
Responding to former Punjab Police inspector Abid ‘Boxer’s’ recent statements, Shehbaz said the police officer was removed from the post of station house officer (SHO) Gulberg for not following the orders.
Abid, a former police officer, was reportedly arrested from UAE in February this year and later brought back to Pakistan.
In a video message released on Thursday, Abid had alleged that Shehbaz, the then Punjab CM, had lodged false cases against him over a land dispute with his uncle, following which he fled the country in 2007.
“Abid Boxer had said that it wasn’t his duty to remove trees from roads,” he explained, adding that he wanted all the provincial departments to facilitate the people.
