PTI leader ‘opens fire’ on Syed Ali Musa Gilani’s convoy: reports

The convoy of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate for Multan’s NA-157 constituency and former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani’s son, Syed Ali Musa Gilani, was allegedly attacked by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ejaz Dogar in the Mehmoodabad area of the city on Friday evening, reported a private media outlet.

According to the media outlet, the incident occurred when the younger Gilani’s convoy was passing from outside Dogar’s house. Ejaz Dogar, who is the Union Council (UC) chairman, along with his companions, allegedly stepped outside of his house and opened fire on the convoy.

All people, including the PPP leader, remained safe during the firing incident.

Shah Shams police have registered a case against 20 accused, who include Ejaz Dogar, Sajjad Ahmed, Asad Awan, Nauman, and Muhammad Hanif.

While responding to the incident, PPP Chairperson Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has demanded that an inquiry be initiated against those responsible for the attack.

“Bullets, hurdles, and restrictions cannot stop PPP from continuing on its path,” Bilawal said, adding that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) should take notice of such incidents.
