KP govt notifies new divisions following FATA merger

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government on Thursday notified the new divisions following the merger of tribal areas with the province.

“In pursuant to the constitution (25th amendment) Act, 2018 regarding the merger of erstwhile FATA in KP and in exercise of the powers conferred as per Section 6 Chapter-II of Land Revenue Act 1967, the government of KP is pleased to notify the new divisions of KP with immediate effect,” read a notification issued by the provincial government.

Following is the list of divisions (districts and sub-divisions) of KP notified by the government.

PESHAWAR DIVISION:

  1. Peshawar district with Hassan Khel sub-division
  2. Nowshera district
  3. Charsadda district
  4. Khyber district
  5. Mohmand district

MALAKAND DIVISION:

  1. Malakand district
  2. Swat district
  3. Shangla district
  4. Buner district
  5. Upper Dir district
  6. Lower Dir district
  7. Chitral district
  8. Bajaur district

KOHAT DIVISION:

  1. Kohat district with Darra Adam Khel sub-division
  2. Hangu district
  3. Karak district
  4. Orakzai district
  5. Kurram district

BANNU DIVISION:

  1. Bannu district with Wazir sub-division
  2. Lakki Marwat with Bettani sub-division
  3. North Waziristan district

DERA ISMAIL KHAN DIVISION:

  1. Dera Ismail Khan district with Drazanda sub-division
  2. Tank district with Jandola sub-division
  3. South Waziristan district

The notification further stated that as no erstwhile FATA was attached with the Hazara and Mardan divisions of KP, there wouldn’t be any change in the composition of the two.
