NAB arrests NTS additional director

ISLAMABAD: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Rawalpindi has arrested Nation Testing Service (NTS) Additional Director and Member Consultants Hiring Committee Tahir Maqbool Khakwani.

According to details, some unscrupulous elements in the top management of NTS have been found involved in corruption and corrupt practices and are intentionally playing with the future of the candidates. They are involved in maladministration and financial irregularities and have caused a loss of more than Rs158 million to the organisation.

The accused person, in connivance with the NTS Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Haroon Rashid, has recruited fake consultants through the regional heads for misappropriating/embezzling huge chunks of amounts from NTS funds and have used these amounts for personal gains/benefits. The accused with his accomplices manipulated the payments of false claims of factitious consultancy through bank cheques and proceeds of these cheques were received in cash by the accused persons for their personal uses.

During the course of the inquiry, it was revealed that the accused in connivance with his accomplice, manipulated the payment of false claims through cheques issued in the name of false consultants. After the realisation of the proceeds of cheques, in the account of the above said false consultants, the part of the amount in question was received back by them in cash through respective regional heads.

He said that NAB is making all-out efforts to recover the looted money from the swindlers. NAB hopes that the joint efforts of all stakeholders can collaborate to check corruption and corrupt practices before happening with the help of all stakeholders. NAB officers/officials under the leadership of NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javaid Iqbal are determined and committed to performing their national duty with absolute objectivity, thorough professionalism, and unimpeachable integrity and without any leanings for or against anybody.
