HAFIZABAD: A scuffle between the activists of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), on Wednesday, resulted in injuries to nine activists.

According to police sources, the incident took place due to slogan mongering between activists of the rival two parties.

As per the details, an electioneering rally of PML-N candidate for PP-70, Dr Muzaffar Ali Sheikh, was crossing the Farooq-i-Azam Chowk at about 2 am when dozens of vehicles of PTI, led by district leader Chaudhry Mehdi Hassan Bhatti and other activists, arrived and raised slogans against the PML-N.

In retaliation, PML-N workers also raised slogans against PTI and Imran Khan.

Soon after the clash, PTI activists stormed into Dr Muzaffar’s central office and hit workers of PML-N with golf clubs and chairs. They also destroyed office equipment including computers.

The PTI workers also tortured two shopkeepers.

Nine workers including Naveed, Muhammad Zeeshan, Irshadullah, Ibrar Shah, Muhammad Umar, Muhammad Azam, Abdul Mannan, Muhammad Salman and Muhammad Arshad sustained injuries and were shifted to a nearby trauma centre.

The police arrived at the scene of the incident about an hour later and started an investigation. No arrests had been made till the filing of this report.

PML-N local leaders have condemned the incident and called upon the administration to take a stern action against the accused.
