PESHAWAR: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s lawyers have requested the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to grant their client more time to appear before the bureau in the helicopter misuse case.
Last week, the PTI chief was sent a notice to appear before the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) office of NAB and to respond to questions about his alleged use of government-owned helicopters for private visits.
Imran’s lawyers submitted an application which stated that due to the upcoming general elections, Khan is engaged in campaigning and cannot appear at the required time.
Khan allegedly used the KP government’s Mi-17 and Ecureuil helicopters for 74 hours, costing Rs2.1 million.
In February, NAB Chairman Justice (r) Javed Iqbal directed officials to conduct an inquiry against the then-KP chief minister Pervez Khattak over the issue.
The former KP chief minister has in the past appeared before the bureau in relation to the case.
