ISLAMABAD: In a review meeting of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), the commission was told that printing of ballot papers for at least 85 constituencies had been paused because candidature cases were pending in courts.
Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Justice (r) Sardar Muhammad Raza was told that further delays in the printing of ballot papers would also increase the time of transportation and this posed a critical danger to the commission as it had the duty to conduct the elections on time.
On the other hand, 21 out of 22 cases pertaining to candidatures in Punjab were disposed of by courts concerned.
Similarly, Sindh High Court (SHC) chief justice directed authorities concerned to dispose of all pending cases by Thursday.
