NAB authorises inquiries against corrupt officials

PESHAWAR: A regional board meeting of the National Accountability Bureau of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (NAB-KP) on Monday authorised inquiries against various provincial government departments on charges of corruption.

The meeting was held here with NAB (KP) Director General Farmanullah Khan in the chair. It was attended by directors, deputy prosecutor general (DPGA), case officers and investigation officers concerned, took some important decisions regarding initiating inquiries against corrupt elements.

The board authorised inquiry against employees of political administration of the Mohmand Agency regarding corruption and corrupt practices. The subjects are alleged for embezzlement in the collection of WAPDA Cess and CNIC taxes.

The board authorised another inquiry against employees of the district administration of Nowshera regarding corruption and corrupt practices. It is alleged that the subjects in connivance with owners of Doctor Colony of Nowshera fraudulently issued NOC in gross violation laws.

The board also authorised inquiry against NHA general manager regarding corruption and corrupt practices. The subjects are alleged to have accumulated moveable and immoveable assets in different parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa worth millions of rupees.

The regional board authorised inquiry against employees of the Revenue Department (land acquisition) of Charsadda regarding corruption and misuse of authority. The subjects are alleged to have illegally transferred 438 kanal government land purchased for construction of model school at Charsadda.

The board also authorised inquiry against employees of Gillayat Development Authority (GDA) regarding corruption and misuse of authority. The subjects are alleged to have illegally allotted plots situated at Nathiagali in gross violation of laws.

The NAB-KP chief vowed that as per directives issued by NAB Chairman Javed Iqbal, the anti-corruption watchdog was determined to conduct across the board accountability on basis of solid evidence and as per law. He said that eradication of corruption was not only the social and moral obligation but it also ensures prosperous future of coming generations.
