QUETTA: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari on Monday said that the upcoming elections are being held in an “environment of fear”.
The PPP chairman was in Quetta to extend condolences to the Raisani family following the killing of Balochistan Awami Party provincial assembly candidate Siraj Raisani in a deadly suicide attack in Mastung on Friday in which over 130 people were killed. The attack was claimed by the ultraviolent terror outfit Islamic State or Daesh.
He further stated, “We were told that terrorism has been eliminated from the country, but, these terror attacks have been taking place right before the polls.”
“We will defeat terrorists through the public’s vote on July 25,” he continued.
“I cannot comment on politics right now as I am here to extend condolences,” the PPP chairman further said.
Earlier, in the second most lethal attack in the country’s history, at least 149 were killed after a suicide bomber struck Raisani’s election meeting in Darenghar area of Mastung.
