Police unable to recover missing children due to ‘election duties’: report

RAWALPINDI: As the elections day draws closer, parents of missing children have expressed dissatisfaction over police’s investigation process to recover the minors.

It was reported by a local media outlet, that these parents have alleged that the concerned police officers at the Waris Khan Police Station are not taking the case seriously.

The local English newspaper quoted parents of three missing children and their sentiments about the police performing their duties. Aftab Hussain, father of three missing children claimed that his kids have been missing since June 15. Moreover, the rescue team that went looking for them after locals claiming they drowned, failed to recover them. He further said that a complaint was filed by the officials however, the police officers did not register an FIR, nor investigated more into the case.

Following that the investigation officer was quoted in the report saying that the police officers ‘were busy performing election duties’.

The officials identified two accused following the complaint, however, no arrests were made.
