Info minister urges journalists to focus on authentic reporting

KARACHI: Sindh Caretaker Minister for Information Jameel Yusuf has urged professional journalists to focus on research and training for proper authentic reporting as they are like the eyes, ears and pulse of the society.

He said this while addressing an interactive session on “General Election 2018 – Role of Media” organised by Pakistan Council of Media Women. The minister asked the women to come forward at every level as the government was working for encouraging them.

He said that women journalists should work like Justice Majida Rizvi, Nadira Panjwani, Fauzia Saeed and many others for the betterment of women and the society.

He further said that women journalists and reporters must have knowledge about their professional skills during the general election. The Information minister said that women journalists work to equip the media and in this regard, they are considering to make some legislation so that professionals get their due benefits, safety and security.

The minister asked the media houses to get their workers insured and advertisements would only be given to those who paid salaries to the working journalists. He also advised the women in the media to use their mobile as a tracking tool during elections and field work for their proper safety.
