ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court on Saturday has sought details regarding the import of liquefied natural gas (LNG).
A bench comprising the top court’s judges, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar, sought details while hearing a suo motu case pertaining to the increase in tax on the petroleum products.
Attorney general submitted a report regarding the quality of imported products to the Supreme Court.
The court has also summoned the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) over the provision of perks and privileges to the managing director of Pakistan State Oil (PSO).
The chief justice, during the hearing, asked whether NAB can tell the court about the development in probe regarding the LNG case.
The chief justice remarked that the government had a culture of establishing new companies, induct their favourites and then benefit them.
The top judge, while summoning the PSO managing director, remarked whether the MD be suspended.
