ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has directed the Ministry of Water and Power to ensure uninterrupted power supply on the polling day of 2018 general elections across the country.
Additional Director General (Elections) of ECP Ghulam Israr Khan, in a letter to the Ministry of Water and Power secretary, has sought uninterrupted power supply during the entire day and night of the polling day – between July 25-26, 2018.
He said that as per schedule approved and notified by the ECP, the elections in the national and provincial assembly constituencies are going to be held on 25-07-2018.
The polling time for general elections will be held from 08:00 am to 06.00 pm. Immediately after the closure of polling process, the counting of votes will be held in the presence of the candidates or other authorised polling agents. And, for the accomplishment of the said task, satisfactorily, uninterrupted power supply is essential until the completion of counting process on the polling day, he added.
“It is, therefore, requested that necessary instructions may be issued to the quarter concerned to ensure uninterrupted power supply in the country on the polling day, July 25, 2018, and the night between July 25 and 26, 2018,” said ECP in a letter to the secretary of water and power ministry.
