Rain-thundershower likely at scattered places; humid weather to grip other parts

ISLAMABAD: Rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at scattered places Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP), Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) and Kashmir in next 24 hours while very hot and humid weather will continue elsewhere in the country.

Thundershowers are likely in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Malakand, Hazara, Peshawar, Mardan, Kohat divisions, Islamabad, GB and Kashmir, while at isolated places in Sargodha, Faisalabad, Zhob, Bannu and DI Khan divisions during this time duration.

Seasonal low lies over northern Balochistan with its trough extending southeastward. Monsoon currents from the Arabian Sea are continuously penetrating upper parts of the country and likely to continue in coming days. A westerly wave lies over northern parts of the country, an official of Met Office told APP.

In last 24 hours, rain-thundershower with gusty winds occurred at scattered places in Malakand, Hazara, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir. The weather remained very hot and humid in other parts of the country.

Rainfall recorded during this time span remained KP: Kakul 61mm, Malamjabba 25mm, SaiduSharif 22mm, Balakot 17mm, Punjab: Sialkot (A/P 34mm, City 23mm), Gujranwala 34mm, Gujrat 29mm, Mandibahauddin 23mm, Islamabad (Zero Point 21mm, Golra, Bokra 06mm, Saidpur 02mm), Murree 17mm, Rawalpindi (Chakala 14mm, Shamsabad 01mm), Jheulm 03mm, Mangla 02mm, Kashmir: Muzaffarabad 20mm, Rawalakot 14mm and Garhi Dupatta 11mm.

Highest temperatures recorded on Thursday were :Sibbi 47°C, Dalbandin, Nokkundi 46°C, Dadu 45°C, Gilgit 42°C, Peshawar 41°C, Multan 41°C, Chitral 40°C, Quetta 40°C,  Faisalabad 39°C, Hyderabad 36°C, Muzaffarabad 34°C, Islamabad 34°C, Lahore 33°C, Karachi 33°C and Murree 22°C.
