ISLAMABAD: Former Senate chairman and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) stalwart Mian Raza Rabbani on Thursday claimed that “meddling” is being carried out ahead of the upcoming general polls.

Speaking during a Senate session, the PPP leader said that he had doubts over the transparency of the upcoming general elections.

He also said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) had failed to fulfil its constitutional responsibility to ensure fair, transparent and free elections.

Rabbani also said that the ECP secretary had said that “external forces” were trying to hamper the upcoming polls.

Efforts are underway to postpone the elections, the PPP leader remarked.

Moreover, he also said that the ECP had extended polling time at the request of one party and that had made the election process dubious.
