A minor boy on Tuesday succumbed to the injuries he had received after a seminary teacher had brutally beaten him, a private media outlet reported.

According to the victim’s parents, seven-year-old Abdul Wahab had gone to a seminary in the Shalimar area of the provincial capital, where his teacher had beaten him up with an iron rod and broken his shoulder bone on Saturday.

Police said that the minor was seeking treatment at the Mayo Hospital when he passed away.

The body was handed over to the minor’s survivors after postmortem.

According to reports, the police have taken a facilitator, identified as Ghafoor, into custody while a team has left for Azad Kashmir where the prime suspect is hiding.

It merits mention that the incident isn’t the first of its kind as, on January 22, a 10-year-old boy was allegedly beaten to death by a cleric in Karachi’s Bin Qasim area.

The cleric, identified as Qari Nizamuddin, had beaten the child to death with a stick at his seminary.

The boy, Muhammad Hussain, had to be rushed to the hospital, however, he had succumbed to his wounds on the way.

Following the incident, the police had taken the suspect into custody.

Later, it was reported that the child’s parents had forgiven the cleric for the death of their son and did not register a case against him.
