–Sardar Tanvir Ilyas says govt will extend any necessary cooperation to NAB for Nawaz, Maryam’s arrest

 

LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Dr Hassan Askari Rizvi on Tuesday said that protection of lives and properties of the people was the prime responsibility of the state.

Addressing a high-level meeting, during which measures taken for the security of electoral candidates and the protection of the lives and properties of the people were discussed, the chief minister directed the officials concerned to give special attention to the security of the candidates.

He also said that implementation of the security plan designed for electioneering rallies and meetings should be ensured at all costs.

Meanwhile, Provincial Minister for Food, Agriculture and Planning & Development Sardar Tanvir Ilyas Khan said that arrest warrants of Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz had been issued by the court and necessary cooperation would be extended to the National Accountancy Bureau (NAB) in accordance with law.

Speaking to media representatives here, the minister said that Section 144 was imposed across Punjab and therefore any violation of the said section should be avoided.

He said that people should avoid taking law into their own hands and a legal action would be initiated against those who violate Section 144.

He said that maintenance of law and order was the responsibility of the Punjab government and the caretaker government would take every possible step for the maintenance of law & order in the province.
