PML-N says no one should try to interfere in election

LAHORE: Former federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) leader Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed has issued a warning to agencies, saying if any interference is made in the elections or any person is lifted then the responsible person and the department will be exposed.

“No one should try to interfere in the upcoming election and if any person is lifted then we will expose the name of a responsible person(s) and institution behind it because those involved in secret activities have failed before too,” he said this in a statement on Tuesday.

“Had we come out in the streets over the recent event and torched tyres, then our rivals would have got the election postponed,” he pointed out. The lawmaker also said that from where the decision of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif has been manufactured because its timing and decision was controversial.

‘FOLLOW THE CONSTITUTION TO ACHIEVE PROGRESS’:

Separately, speaking to a private TV channel, he said that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has set code of conducts for the media, government officials and the candidates contesting elections.

“We should follow the constitution to achieve progress,” he said.

Commenting on the upcoming elections, he said that people are expressing enthusiasm and are actively campaigning for their next representatives.

He also said that this year’s elections, which will be held on July 25, are important for the country, adding that nobody should interfere in the forthcoming general elections.

The senator said that all the political parties should learn from their past mistakes, adding they should not repeat such mistakes for better working of the democratic system.

He further said that all national institutions should work under their constitutional parameters, adding that elections should be held in a fair, free and transparent manner across the country.
