TAXILA: Former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan has said that he personally chose the ‘jeep’ symbol for his election campaign personally but he is not associated with any ‘jeep group’.
Addressing a gathering in Taxila on Tuesday, disgruntled Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan said when he chose the jeep symbol wrong speculation was made, but he personally chose the symbol out of the three options.
He further stated that no step should be taken that makes the election controversial.
“No one is getting a certificate for corruption or honesty from me,” he said in an indirect reference to his political rivals.
Nisar said even if he was still in the PML-N, he would not have gone to the airport to welcome former premier Nawaz Sharif.
“I would not have gone to welcome Nawaz,” the former interior minister said.
Nisar will be contesting as an independent candidate from the NA-63, NA-59, PP-10 and PP-12 constituencies in the upcoming general election, following a fall out with the PML-N.
