India on Tuesday rubbished the United Nations report on Indian Occupied Kashmir (IOK) at the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), terming the “so-called” report coloured by the “clear bias” and was not deemed fit to be taken into consideration by the human rights body, Hindustan Times reported.

Pakistan has pursued the issue of the rights violation in the disputed Himalayan valley at a UN session on Monday.

New Delhi has fired back by claiming this is a ploy by Islamabad to misuse the UN forum by referring to situations that are extraneous to the discussions.

Pakistan’s Permanent Ambassador to the United Nations Dr Maleeha Lodhi referred to the June 14 report on IOK by UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Zeid Ra’ad al Hussein during a UNSC debate on Children and Armed Conflict.

However, Ambassador Tanmaya Lal, India’s deputy permanent representative to the UN, said that the “so-called” report about IOK reflects the “clear bias of an official who was acting without any mandate whatsoever and relied on unverified sources of information”.

He claimed that the document “was not even found fit to be considered by the membership of the forum where it was submitted”.

New Delhi has quashed the human rights report by Zeid Ra’ad, who had called for a commission of inquiry by the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to conduct an independent, international probe into the human rights violations in IOK.
