Death anniversary of Abdul Sattar Edhi observed

KARACHI: The second death anniversary of prominent philanthropist Abdul Sattar Edhi was observed on Sunday.

He was born in 1928 in Indian Gujrat and died on July 8, 2016 in Karachi after prolong illness. At the time of death he was 88-year-old. He started welfare services in 1951 by setting up a small dispensary in old city area of Kharadar, later expending welfare services, he formed Edhi Foundation.

After few years he became famous for running the largest volunteer ambulance network of the world. Sattar Edhi established many institutions not only for the welfare of human being but also for the animals across the country, which are being run by the wife and son of Sattar Edhi.

National and international awards were given to him for his humanitarian services at large scale. On the occasion of Sattar Edhi’s death anniversary, various humanitarian organisations and NGOs organized memorial meetings in which rich tribute was paid to Sattar Edhi.

Quran Khawani and Fateha Khawani for the Isal-e-Sawab to late Edhi was held at the Edhi Centers across the country. Khamasyani Social Welfare Foundation has also organised a meeting to pay tribute to Edhi Sahib on his death anniversary.

The founder of Khamasyani Foundation, Saleem Khamasyani paid glowing tribute to Abdul Sattar Edhi for his humanitarian services. On the occasion the participants offered Dua for his Isal-e-Sawab.
