Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari has said that the participation of religious parties’ in the elections may prove disastrous for the country, adding that ‘angels’ will play an important role during the polls, which he believes will throw a hung parliament, thereby paving the way for a government of national consensus.

The involvement of ‘aliens’ (military) and ‘angels’ (intelligence services) was also pointed out by Nawaz Sharif earlier.

According to an interview with the local media, Zardari is willing to support the Pakistan Muslim League–Nawaz (PML-N) if need be. He said that PPP is strategizing to confront the ‘ongoing pre-poll rigging’, adding that the ROs manipulated the elections in 2013 and now ‘angels’ are going to assume the same role in the upcoming polls, casting suspicions on the fairness of the polls.

Furthermore, he said that a letter had been sent to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) with the request to remove the present FIA DG as his brother is contesting the elections.

Moreover, he commented on Shehbaz Sharif’s recent statement that ‘no party could resolve country’s problems single-handedly and that a national government should be formed after the polls’, PPP leader replied that actually, ‘he [Zardari] was the first who had floated this idea after the 2013 elections’.

In the interview, the PPP co-chairman was asked whether he will support the PML-N to form a government or not, he said that this time around the party would set its own terms and conditions for cooperation. He did not reveal any strategy when asked about PPP being able to secure 10 seats from Punjab in the upcoming polls.

When questioned about the turncoats who joined the PTI ahead of the polls, the PPP leader said that ‘the seasonal birds had now become pure after taking bath in the Ganges [of PTI]’. He commented further saying that ‘when they were with us, they were thieves and dacoits’.

He said that religious parties’ taking part in the elections is ‘not a good omen’ for the country, it will prove to have ‘dangerous consequences for the country’ the leader said, adding that ‘the issue of Khatm-e-Nabuwat surfaced due to incompetence and poor handling [of issues] by Mian Nawaz Sharif.’

On CPEC, he said the PPP government had designed it in a way that China would make all the investment and Pakistan will also make the profits out of it. He added that PPP government had also planned to set up industrial zones along the CPEC route.
