Will MQM emerge victorious in NA-251 again?

KARACHI: Around 13 candidates are expected to contest for the NA-251 seat in Karachi, a local media outlet reported on Saturday.

Out of the 405,652 registered voters, 239,849 are men while 165,803 are women. 877 polling booths in 284 polling stations are to be established by the ECP for the seat.

The NA-251 includes Mominabad and Orangi town areas which is predominantly comprised of lower and middle income groups. In terms of ethnicity, most of the residents are Urdu speaking even though there is a sizeable percentage of the populace that belongs to varying ethnicities.

Water shortage, load shedding and poor road infrastructure are major issues for the residents. The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has historically emerged victorious in the area and is being represented by Syed Aminul Haque for the upcoming elections.
