ABBOTTABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Sunday lashed out at the Sharif family once again and said that former premier Nawaz Sharif’s son-in-law Captain (r) Safdar is presenting himself for arrest as if he has conquered Kashmir.

While addressing a party rally in Abbottabad, Imran said that Safdar has been convicted in corruption charges.

The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team arrested Captain (r) Safdar in relation to Avenfield properties reference case on Sunday.

“I have heard the father and daughter duo is returning on Friday,” Imran said while referring to Nawaz and his daughter Maryam Nawaz’s decision to return to the country. “They are most welcome to return but Nawaz, for the sake of God, doesn’t try to portray yourself as Nelson Mandela.”

Mandela, an anti-apartheid revolutionary who served as South Africa’s president, worked for the benefit of his nation, Imran said claiming that Nawaz, on the other hand, only plundered the country and gave that money to his children.

Earlier, Imran vowed for implementing the true spirit of the welfare state in the country as was introduced by the Last Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Peace Be upon Him).

Addressing the ‘Strengthening of Pakistan Convention’, organised by Chaudhry Rahmat Ali Foundation, the PTI chief reaffirmed his commitment for bringing out the underprivileged and weak segments of the society from poverty trap by providing them special incentives, as were offered by the welfare state.

He said that the humanity and justice were the two main principles which distinct the human society from the animals. He added that PTI would pay special focus on social justice and human development if the public reposed confidence on them and voted on July 25 polls.

Imran also said that there can be “no justice in a jungle”. “We cannot expect justice in animal kingdoms,” he said.

The PTI chief said, “I want to make a Pakistan where there is justice and work and appointments are made on the basis of merit.”

He upheld, “We want to make a Pakistan in which humans are valued.”

The PTI chairman criticised the development model of outgoing Punjab government and said that it had spent all the resources in already developed areas and neglected the development and uplift of underdeveloped areas of the province.

Imran Khan said that the government of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) had spent half of its developmental budget on the development of Lahore city, whereas the other areas of the province, particularly Southern Punjab, were badly ignored.

Out of the total budget allocation for the fiscal year 2017-18 comprising Rs635 billion, the government had spent Rs350 billion on the development of Lahore and deprived the other areas of the province from the development expenditures.

If the PTI comes into power, it would give special emphasis on health, education, clean drinking water, social justice and merit, and would allocate a special quota for disabled and feeble persons of the society to enable them to spend a respectable life like others.

A special amount form the National Finance Commission Award would be allocated for the development of least developed districts of the country in order to provide equal opportunities of education, health, clean drinking water and transportation for everyone in the country, he pledged.

Imran Khan said that those nations who forget their heroes had no future and could not be able to achieve any progress in the history.

He paid glowing tributes to Chaudhry Rahmat Ali and his contribution in Pakistan movement. He said that PTI would make arrangements to bring the body of Chaudhry Rahmat Ali in Pakistan for burial.
