Notice issued to Nisar for violating code of conduct

RAWALPINDI: The district administration on Thursday issued a notice to former interior minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan for violating the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP)’s code of conduct.

According to the Directorate of Public Relations Office, the notice was issued by deputy commissioner/district monitoring officer, Umer Jahangir which stated, “You held a public meeting at Al

Harm city in Chakri area without prior permission from the deputy commissioner which was a violation of the code of conduct.”

According to Section 41 of the code of conduct for general election 2018 issued by the ECP states that the political parties and the candidates shall convey their schedule of public rallies/ processions/ public rallies at least three days in advance.

District/local administration shall be responsible for making appropriate security arrangements and regulating such public rallies/processions in such a manner that equal opportunities were provided to those interested in holding public meetings.

“Therefore, you are hereby required to submit the reply the notice as to why violation was committed,” the directorate said.

The PML-N disgruntled leader is contesting the election on four seats including two national and two provincial seats – NA-59/63 and PP-10/12 – as an independent candidate on the symbol of jeep.
