LAHORE: The female workers of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) have started a vigorous campaign for PTI Chairman Imran Khan in National Assembly (NA) constituency NA-131, Lahore where he is facing Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader and former federal minister Khawaja Saad Rafique.

Saad Rafique will contest election against Imran Khan from NA-131.

According to former member provincial assembly (MPA) and PTI leader Saadia Sohail Rana, about 200 women have started a door-to-door campaign in Lahore Cantt, Defence and adjoining areas. She added that a large number of volunteers have also joined them. “We are working day in and day out in the constituency and are spending nights and restless days. There is no dearth of dedication and commitment in harsh weather. We kept campaigning in rain and in scorching heat. We will ensure the victory of Imran Khan at any cost,” she said. All party workers are united under the leadership of Munaza Hassan, she added.

She further said that women will bring real change in the country by their passion and participation in the electoral process. “People here love Imran Khan and his ideology. We will leave no stone unturned in bringing change in Pakistan through the victory of PTI on July 25,” she added.

It has been learned that PTI Central Punjab President Aleem Khan’s wife Kiran Aleem Khan is in the field and she is vigorously campaigning for Imran Khan and her spouse who is also contesting for the provincial assembly seat PP-162.  Kiran Aleem Khan has constituted special teams of women who canvassing both for Imran Khan and Aleem Khan. She said, “Aleem Khan is taking every step for strengthening the party in central Punjab and for PTI’s victory in elections. We will win Insha’Allah (God willing) on July 25 and Imran Khan will become the prime minister.”

On the other hand, disgruntled PTI female workers are still undecided in starting the campaign and canvassing for the PTI chief in NA-131. Angry PTI worker Saima Shaukat said, “We are still unhappy with the party leadership decision vis-à-vis award of tickets to the blue-eyed ones. I am still undecided about the campaign. I will decide the matter in a day or two but I am not sure whether I will start the campaign from NA-131 where the party chief is contesting elections. Perhaps I may start my campaign from my home in Johar Town where PTI central leader Ijaz Chaudhry is campaigning.  The party leadership has failed to remove our reservations. The party leaders are making calls and convincing us but my stand is clear. I have no doubt about my stance.”

Commenting on Saima Shaukat’s stance, Saadia Sohail Rana said that only Saima is still angry while others have joined the campaign and are actively participating in designated roles and assigned duties.

It is pertinent to mention here that Imran Khan’s wife Bushra Manika, during her Lahore visit, had convinced a large number of female angry workers but some are still unhappy with the leadership.
