ISLAMABAD: A 10-member Pakistani team ‘Auj’ will depart for the United Kingdom on July 9 (Monday) to feature in the International Formula Student Competition, which will be continued until July 23.
Team Auj marketing head Warda Jamal said that the first all-girls team of the 10 students had designed and manufactured a formula-style racing car from scratch. “We are all from different departments of NUST including engineering, business development and industrial designing,” she said.
“We have been shortlisted for the event based on our business plan and we will be travelling to London and participating on the silver stone racetrack,” she said. Azka Athar will be leading the team to depart to the UK from Islamabad, she said.
She said that they received extensive support from the Cafe Garage, CanOlive and the Karachi Gliding Club during their one year project. “As soon as we arrive back from the competition, our motive is to empower women in every aspect by working on women and work development and opening another employment sector to Pakistani females,” she said.
She said that former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi had also invited them for their extraordinary work in May. The team includes Azka Athar, Wardah Jamal, Sabah Zaman, Harim Akhtar, Cybil Braganza, Laiba Rodyna, Alaima Zahra, Aatrah Rauf, Zoiba Noor and Fatima Sohail.
