LAHORE: A two-member bench of Lahore High Court (LHC) headed by Justice Muzahir Ali Akbar on Wednesday heard an appeal against the decision of an appellate tribunal regarding disqualification of former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi from Lahore’s NA-57.

During the proceedings, the court summoned the concerned returning officer and ordered the registrar of LHC to ensure his presence with all records.

In his arguments, Abbasi’s lawyer said that his client had declared all his assets and said the appellate tribunal had no authority to disqualify any candidate permanently.

Speaking to media representatives after appearing before the court, Abbasi said that he had always respected the courts and would respect the court’s decision in this case as well.

“I have not hidden any facts from anyone and will say nothing more than this,” he added.
