ISLAMABAD: For the first time in five years, a kidney transplant was carried out at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS).
Waheed Akhtar, 30-year-old, was donated a kidney by his mother, 57-year-old Zaria Bibi.
After being approved by the Human Organ Transplant Authority, (HOTA) the transplant was conducted free of cost.
PIMS Executive Director Dr Raja Amjad said, “The team which performed surgery and administered anaesthesia include Dr Rizwan Qazi, Dr Tanveer Khaliq, Dr Iqbal Memon, Dr Shafeeq Memon and others.”
