Bollywood diva Jacqueline Fernandez has made quite a mark in the Bollywood film industry. Her latest offering, Race 3, alongside Salman Khan, was a box-office success despite being a critic’s nightmare. And Jacqueline is currently on the Dabaang Reloaded Tour which is hosting shows across the United States.
In an exclusive interview with Filmfare Magazine, Jacqueline opened about her love life, career and what the future holds for her.
It has been rumoured that Jacqueline is dating her A Gentleman co-star Sidharth Malhotra and some reports have even stated that the two are planning to move in together and are currently looking for an apartment.
However, Jacqueline said, “It’s funny because people refuse to believe it but my love life is non-existent. If you’re working till 11 pm every night, where’s the time for a love life?”
“You don’t really go out much. You don’t meet so many people. You socialise but that’s work-oriented. Work has been my priority. Genuinely, I don’t want distractions. Once in a while, my parents visit me and that makes me feel fine. Otherwise, my work gives me satisfaction. I don’t believe a relationship can give me that much of satisfaction,” she added.
Jacqueline further revealed that she wouldn’t be able to date an actor because “There’s just too much going on in an actor’s life. It’s preoccupying and you have to be someone who can take a lot. I don’t want that stress in my life. Actors need supportive people around them. As for me, I’m independent and do my own thing. So, I need someone who can complement that.”
Speaking on her choice of films, which mostly include commercial movies, Jacqueline said, “I want to do what I’m happy doing. I don’t want to feel forced into doing a type of cinema just because everyone else’s doing it. My idea of a good film is full-on commercial cinema, where the audience is entertained. If I come across a film that’s different, I’ll do it. But I’m not going to get pressurised into doing stuff. I’m an entertainer. I enjoy what I’m doing.”
On finding success, Jacqueline remarked, “It’s important to have the right attitude. You could be amiable, you could be nice to work with or you could be a real bitch! But people will still work with you because you’re professional. But the minute you’re not, they will start moving away from you. The number one thing is the right attitude. It’s not about being nice or sweet or fun on the set.”
Jacqueline also spoke about her chemistry with Salman Khan and revealed that he’s been suggesting her name to filmmakers without her knowledge.
When asked who she thinks looks best with Salman on-screen, the actor replied, “Aishwarya Rai Bachchan looked so good with him in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. It’s one of my favourite films of his. It’s the perfect on-screen pairing for me.”
In the interview, Jacqueline also said that Priyanka Chopra inspires her a lot.
