KARACHI: Faisal Siddiqui, the defence lawyer in the Naqeebullah murder case, has alleged that an associate who is pursuing the case was being threatened to drop the case.

In a letter to Malir Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Munir Ahmed Shaikh and Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Amjad Javed Saleemi, Siddiqui said that Saifur Rehman, Naqeebullah murder case Grand Jirga leader, was being threatened of dire consequences if he did not drop the case.

Siqqiqui in his letter also claimed that former SSP Rao Anwar’s accomplices were behind the threats and that Rehman had received threatening phone calls regarding the matter.

The letter also called upon the IGP to provide security to Rehman.

Moreover, Rehman is also contesting the upcoming general elections from NA-242.
