ISLAMABAD: Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui of Islamabad High Court (IHC) directed the Ministry of Defence (MoD) to remove all encroachments from Aabpara Chowk (Square) while accepting the plea of exemption from their in-person attendance defence secretary and Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general in the matter of reopening of Aabpara Chowk case.

A miscellaneous petition from ministry of defence and DG ISI came up for hearing before single bench of IHC led by Justice Shuakat Aziz Siddiqui in illegal Faizabad bus terminal case on Tuesday.

The court was prayed through this petition to review its June, 22 and June 28 decisions.

The representative of Ministry of Defence and Deputy Attorney General (DAG) appeared before the court when hearing regarding miscellaneous petition in Faizabad illegal bus terminal case started.

DAG requested for giving more time in connection with alternative security arrangements besides setting aside June, 22 and 29 decisions.

The learned judge while rejecting the pleas of defence secretary and DG ISI seeking nullification of June, 22 and June 29 decisions said, “We are not fond of summoning. It was said that we have no powers. Therefore, those having powers were summoned.”

Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui replied, “Alternative security steps should be taken within the defined limits.”
