DMG officer Hamza Shafqaat appointed DC Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Federal government appointed a blue eyed officer of powerful group of bureaucracy, Hamza Shafqaat, the new Deputy Commissioner (DC), Islamabad.

The new Deputy Commissioner of Islamabad Hamza Shafqaat is a favourite of a powerful group within bureaucracy.

A notification said that Muhammad Hamza Shafqaat, an acting BS-19 officer of the Pakistan Administrative Service (PAS) currently posted as Establishment Division (ED) Deputy Secretary would be posted as Islamabad Capital Territory’s Deputy Commissioner with immediate effect.

On the other hand, the incumbent DC Islamabad will be part of National Highway division.

“Capt (R) Mustaq ahmed, a BS-19 officer of PAS presently posted as Deputy Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory administration under Interior Division is transferred and his services are placed at the disposal of communications division for further posting in National Highway Authority with immediate effect and until further orders,” read the notification.

Hamza Shafqaat, a grade 18 officer of PAS has served in various roles at CDA (Capital Development Authority), ICT and Establishment Division due to close links with the 15 Common officers of PAS.

The Establishment Division’s former secretary Maroof Afzal has given the charge of joint secretary to Shafqaat, a BS-18 officer in ED.

It is pertinent to mention here that three names including that of Hamza Shafqaat had emerged for the post of DC Islamabad as the caretaker government had instructed interior division to make transfer and postings in federal capital before the general elections.

The others names were Muhammad Ali and Asim Ayab.
