KASUR: After pressurising the complainant in a dacoity case, the former SHO of Kasur police succeeded to have a compromise between five robbers and victim, resulting into the release of the former, sources said on Sunday.
According to details, five dacoits entered into Abdullah general store located at Danpat road in the jurisdiction of A-division police station and snatched Rs 600,000 cash and other valuable things from the trader. However, after the pinpoint of the complainant, the police arrested Naeem, Faheem, Ashraf, Fiaz and Ali Raza in before Eidul Fitr.
Sources told that the police recovered one kg heroin, motorcycles, cash and other valuable items from their possession and the A-division police allegedly sold these things and divided the amount among them.
Meanwhile, former SHO Hagi Ashraf and ASI Nabeel managed a deal with the robbers and pressurised the complainant Muhammad Abdullah in the robbery case. Sources said then SHO assured the trader that the snatched money would be given back to him only if he withdrew his case from the court. The police threatened the victim that the robbers would be given a clean chit if he doesn’t comply to their demand and hence he would be deprived from his belongings.
On the pressure of police, the complainant withdrew the case and the court granted the bail to all five robbers. The police returned only Rs 2,50,000 to Muhammad Abdullah from the recovered amount.
After the release of robbers, the incidents of robbery escalated in the city and the traders and local people have become unsafe in Kasur. The local people have made an appeal to Kasur DPO Muntazir Mehndi to take notice of the release of robbers by A-division police. Proper action should be taken in this case, they added.
