LAHORE: Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Hasan Askari Rizvi on Saturday said the government would ensure implementation of the framework given by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to hold general elections in a transparent and peaceful manner.
In an interview, he said administrative arrangements were being made in the light of the code of conduct issued by ECP and bureaucracy had been shuffled.
“Adequate security measures are being taken for the purpose,” he stated further.
CM Askari said the caretaker government would make sure that every political party had equal opportunities to contest the forthcoming polls and people had the freedom to elect representatives of their choice.
To a question, he said if any political party had any complaints, they would be looked into and also addressed accordingly. “The caretaker government has no political agenda, and its primary objective is to hold free and fair elections.”
Responding to another question, the chief minister said that media played an important role in respect of monitoring the fairness of elections and urged the people to come out of their houses on polling day to use their right to franchise.
“A high turnout will enhance the credibility of elections and strengthen democracy in the country,” concluded the chief minister.
