ISLAMABAD: Security Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) has cancelled the registration of a fake company listed in the name of Council of Pakistan Newspapers Editors (CPNE).

A decision to this effect was taken by SECP on a complaint filed by CPNE against the illegal registration.

SECP has directed Khushnood Ali Khan to change the name of his company within the next 30 days otherwise the commission would do so itself.

In his decision, the SECP Registrar Liaqat Ali Dolla declared that Khushnood Ali Khan had got his company registered in the name of CPNE by concealing facts, providing incorrect information and misleading the commission, which itself was an illegal act as per law.

CPNE, which had been registered under the Society Registration Act 1860, is the representative forum of the newspaper editors in Pakistan.  The country’s distinctive journalists and personalities are part of the CPNE since its inception.

Congratulating the council members on this achievement, CPNE office bearers observed the conspiracy aimed at targeting CPNE through grouping, misleading campaigns, and forgery had been foiled.

They vowed that the country’s editor community would stand united and frustrate any further attempt against the CPNE in future as well.
