KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) Bahadurabad faction has finalised its list of candidates who will be contesting in the upcoming general elections of 2018, however, its former convener Dr Farooq Sattar has excused himself from contesting the polls.

According to reports, Ali Raza Abidi will face PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif and PTI Chairman Imran Khan in NA-243, Mahfooz Yaar Khan will contest against Bilawal Bhutto Zardari in NA-246 while Usama Qadri will compete with Mustafa Kamal in NA-253.

On the other hand, Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui will be contesting the general elections from the NA-255 constituency while Dr Farooq Sattar was named the party’s candidate from NA-247 and NA-245.

However, Sattar has said that he does not aspire to contest the elections.

“I have asked the Bahadurabad faction to decide upon the matter,” said Sattar.

“I’ve informed the Bahadurabad leaders to take a decision feasible to them,” he maintained while adding that the party committee will reach a final judgment on his wish to refrain from contesting elections this time around.

The MQM-P leader was addressing a press conference, hours after the party’s Bahadurabad faction finalised its list of candidates.

He said that the decision regarding his application should be decided upon until evening.

Sattar further said that the MQM-Pakistan is a single party and has ‘kite’ as its election symbol.
