LAHORE: Intermittent light rain is likely to continue during the next 24 hours in different parts of Punjab, especially the provincial capital, Pakistan Meteorological Department predicted Thursday.
On Tuesday, rain coupled with gusty winds had turned the weather pleasant in different parts of the country, reducing the intensity of the heatwave that had been persisting for the past couple of weeks. Electricity and communication systems throughout the city had faced serious disruption following heavy rainfall. Several feet water had also been accumulated in different localities.
According to the Met office, rain-thundershowers with gusty winds are expected at isolated places across the province including Lahore, Faisalabad, Gujranwala and Bahawalpur divisions over the next 24 hours.
Scattered thunderstorms are expected to lash Airport Road, Mall Road, Jail Road, Ferozepur Road, Shimla Pahari, Garhi Shahu, Johar Town, Walton, Defence and other areas in the provincial capital.
The synoptic situation suggests that seasonal low lies over north Balochistan while moist currents are penetrating over central, southern and upper parts of the country.
Heavy downpours may trigger flash flooding and landslides, Met office has warned.
