Actor-politician and talk show host Hamza Ali Abbasi in a Twitter post expressed his excitement over Pakistani cinema’s upcoming releases which include his own much-awaited air force drama Parwaaz Hai Junoon.

“Anxiously looking forward to Teefa In Trouble, JPNA 2, Load Wedding & Parwaaz Hai Junoon releasing this year & because of these films I can happily & confidently say that 2018 will be a great year for Pakistani Film Industry,” Abbasi wrote on Twitter.

Abbasi’s Parwaaz Hai Junoon was originally scheduled to be released on Eid ul Fitr, however, the film ran into legal troubles when a stylist of the film sent a legal notice to producers for not including his name in the credentials. This resulted in the court issuing a stay order and barring the producers from releasing any more material regarding the film.

But it appears that all that has been settled as Abbasi in another tweet wrote, “So… How about Parwaaz Hai Junoon trailer first week of July? Sounds good?”

Along with PHJ, three other local releases will hit cinemas in the upcoming months.

Ali Zafar and Maya Ali’s action-comedy Teefa In Trouble is scheduled to release on July 20. Meanwhile, Mehwish Hayat and Fahad Mustafa’s Load Wedding and Nadeem Beyg’s star-studded Jawani Phir Nahi Ani 2 are scheduled for release on Eid ul Azha.

With the ban on Indian films during the Eid season, Pakistani films seem to be benefitting greatly despite the negative reviews. Eid ul Fitr releases like 7 Din Mohabbat In and Wajood are still holding their own at the box office, despite the release of Race 3, Oceans 8 and Jurassic Park: Fallen Kingdom.
