- In a goodwill gesture, PTI decides not to field candidate against PTM’s Ali Wazir
- PTI chief says Sita White is non-issue
- Khan says Zulfi has no ties with Pakistan, NAB can’t frame any charges against him
During an interview that aired on Tuesday night, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan said that his party would use “any strategy” to win the upcoming general elections and defeat the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).
Khan, while speaking to Geo News’ Hamid Mir on the program ‘Capital Talk’, said, “For the general elections 2018, we have just one strategy: defeat PML-N.”
Responding to a question pertaining to seat adjustment, the PTI chief said, “I have the best training when it comes to competing since I have been a sportsman and the strategy is to win the match.”
He added, “Our match is against the PML-N.”
“We will also do seat adjustments where we feel PTI does not have a strong candidate against the PML-N but some other candidate opposed to the Nawaz league can win the seat,” Khan explained.
Speaking about the politics of electables, the PTI chief explained, “It is not about the electables, it is about the leaders at the top and even if you bring angels under Nawaz or Zardari, it won’t make a difference because it is the leader who gets rid of corruption.”
Khan admitted that there were internal differences in the party and “it was very difficult to stop them”.
He explained that “we tried conducting intra-party elections in 2016” and consequently two groups were formed and the “public fighting” between Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Jehangir Tareen was a “fallout of that situation”.
Moreover, the PTI chief said that his party decided not to field any candidate against the Pashtun Tahafuz Movement (PTM) leader Ali Wazir in South Waziristan as a “gesture of goodwill” in the upcoming general polls.
He added, “I’ve been talking about the same things as the PTM.”
“I have always said that we need to listen and resolve Pashtun demands while working with them,” said Imran Khan, adding PTI wants a resolution of their genuine demands.
“I think many of their demands are right and they should be listened to and resolved.”

Earlier on April 11, Imran Khan said that he supports PTM in many of their demands. “I will meet COAS General Bajwa and discuss with him about removing landmines and easing check-posts, besides the core issue of missing persons in Federally Administered Tribal Area (FATA),” Khan stated.
He further said that after 9/11, the tribal people suffered the most and faced daunting challenges.
Furthermore, Mir also questioned Khan about his relationship with Sita White.
The PTI chief responded by saying that the Sharif brothers used his personal life to gain political advantage.
Khan added, “Nobody is an angel and everyone has flaws.”
“I have been in politics for 22 years now and they keep attacking my personal life,” Khan also said.
The PTI chief also said, “Either they attack the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital (SKMCH) or they talk about Sita White and Jemima.”
The journalist pressed Khan to answer in a yes or no, to which the PTI chief said, “It’s a non-issue and why would I answer this? Is Imran Khan being honest with the country’s money? That’s the only issue at the moment.”
Responding to another question pertaining to Zulfikar Hussain Bukhari, Khan explained, “He was born and brought up in the United Kingdom (UK), runs a business in UK and I don’t understand why the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is trying a person who has no ties with Pakistan.”
