ISLAMABAD: The overall power demand on June 25 was assessed to be 23,055 MW compared to electricity generation of 22,700 MW showing a meagre shortfall of only 355 MW, said spokesman Power Division spokesman on Tuesday.
Clarifying a news item published in a section of press regarding power demand and supply situation in the country, he said neither the demand on Monday reached to 25044 MW, nor the electricity generation stood at 15766 MW as reported by some sections of media. The overall peak demand of power on Monday, June 25 was 23,055 MW as compared to the demand of 22,700 MW.
The distribution companies in order to reduce losses at their high loss feeders, however, draw electricity from the available generation accordingly at 11KV feeders level, the spokesperson clarified.
The spokesperson while clarifying impression of prolonged power outages in the country said only areas where the power theft was rampant and there were some constraints at the distribution level, witness schedule and announced electricity load management. The distribution companies were getting electricity almost as per their demand at 11KV, said a press release.
The spokesperson said accurate electricity demand and supply data can be obtained from Power Division besides the office of spokesperson was also available to cross check the authenticity of any data to avoid reporting any such unverified and misleading news items.
