Bobby Deol, who has made a comeback on the silver screen after four years with the Salman Khan starrer Race 3, says his main aim in life is to work hard and get good projects.

Race 3 crossed Rs 100 crore at the box office in India since releasing on June 15. However, it has received negative reviews from critics and audiences and has been the subject of internet trolls.

Asked if he feels that the success of Race 3 will get more films his way, Bobby said, “That is my main aim in life… To work hard and get good projects. It does not matter if I am playing the main lead or not.”

Bobby, 49, says he wants to be a part of movies with good subjects. “I’m just looking forward to getting good characters to play and some great subjects to be a part of.”

The actor is particularly keen to star in an action entertainer.

“I would love to do action. I have been doing a lot of comedy right now, so I want to do some action and I hope I get some scripts,” he said.

His next Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se is with his father and veteran actor Dharmendra and brother Sunny Deol. On working with family again, he said, “It is always great to be in a movie with my dad and brother. I grew up watching him. He is my inspiration.”

On why he was away from films for so long, Bobby said, “I only blame myself for disappearing in between. I had kind of given up. I felt demotivated, disheartened but looking around at my family I realised I cannot let them down.”

“I have to work, get on my feet and do it myself because there is nobody who can help you.”

The actor says his disappearance from the silver screen did affect him a lot.

“My mark disappeared from the industry. There was no space for me in it when I always believed there would be,” he added.

He says he went through tough time and could not fathom what was happening.

“I didn’t realise that competition had increased. I know there is competition now and I am preparing myself.”

The actor has been a part of the Hindi film industry for over two decades. He made his debut with Barsaat in 1995.

Talking about his journey, Bobby said: “It has been amazing. I have seen the highs and the lows. So, I have experienced everything…

“I’m just excited that it’s a fresh beginning for me because for every actor every Friday is a make or break and it’s always going to be like that  no matter how successful you are or not.”

Bobby also gave an exciting performance at the IIFA Awards which took place in Bangkok the past weekend.
