Ballot papers to carry watermark, printed from paper ‘imported’ by ECP

ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would be importing the paper to be used for printing of ballot papers in a move to ensure transparency in the upcoming general elections.

Almost Rs2 billion will reportedly be spent in the printing of 210 million ballot papers.

Moreover, in a bid to curtail election rigging, each ballot paper would carry a watermark.

Meanwhile, the ECP directed district returning officers (DROs) and returning officers (RO) to apprise the commission of the number of ballot papers required in each district and send voter lists to ECP by June 30.

Furthermore, it was decided that the printing of ballot papers would start from July 1 under the Pakistan Army’s supervision at printing presses in Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad.

Ballot papers distribution would also reportedly be done in the Army’s supervision.
