  • PTI chief says his party will not place candidate against PTM’s Ali Wazir as a goodwill gesture

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Tuesday admitted that different factions exist within the party led by PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and former general secretary Jahangir Khan Tareen.

Speaking to a local news channel, the PTI chairman said that Jahangir Tareen and Shah Mehmood Qureshi have their groups in the party. He, however, expressed hope that this grouping would end once the PTI came into power.

The rift between Qureshi and Tareen existed for some time but came to fore more spitefully as the tickets for upcoming elections were being distributed to aspiring candidates.

Imran also vowed that he would not issue development funds to members of the national and provincial assemblies. He maintained that the issuance of funds to MNAs and MPAs promotes corruption.

“We have to defeat Nawaz-league in this match,” he said, adding that they had formed a strategy to win the polls.

The PTI chief claimed that 95 per cent surveys pertaining to his party’s candidates proved to be right.

“Sharif brothers either attack Shaukat Khanum hospital or my personal life,” he lamented.

The PTI chairman alleged that they were also behind Reham Khan’s book and former chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s campaign against him.

Regarding his party’s manifesto, he said that it was ready and would be issued between July 3 and 5. He also said that they were human beings, not angels, and mistakes did occur.

Commenting on Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), the PTI chief said that if his party formed the next government then it would not privatise the national flag-carrier.

The PTI chief also said that as a goodwill gesture, PTI will not field its candidate against Pashtun Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Ali Wazir in South Waziristan.
