ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has allowed the government to decide on its own for routine transfers and postings in Federal Secretariat, its attached departments and autonomous bodies up to BPS-19, which are not in connection to officers deputed for elections.

According to a notification issued by the Election Commission today, the government will have to seek permission from the Commission for transfers and postings in BPS-20 and above.

Other categories in which transfers and postings have been allowed include judges, diplomats, vice-chancellors of universities, law officers, defence forces officers, and secondment of defence forces officers against civil posts.

The Election Commission banned transfers and postings of government employment in view of general elections being held on July 25.
